Both machines have their similarities. However, there are a couple of subtle differences between both machines. These differences are minor though, so the purpose of this review is not to list the features of both products but give a balanced and honest opinion of which machine will provide you with the best value while giving you the highest quality coffee.
Both machines look very similar, and it has been argued that the Keurig K475 is simply the K425 repackaged. Despite the skepticism, there are a couple of differences between the two machines, which I’ll outline in this article.

With the inclusion of a water filter with the machine it makes it very easy to make sure that the water you are using to brew your coffee is purified and any nasty bugs or chemicals have been filtered out. Again like with the K425 you can enjoy a variety of brew sizes and choose the strength of the coffee you like. Pros & Cons Of The Keurig K475
The K425 vs. K475 – What Are The Similarities?
On first impressions, the Keurig K425 and the K475 have a very similar aesthetic. Both products have a large 70 oz Water Tanks which allow you to brew up to eight or more cups before having to refill the reservoir.
So, both machines are perfect if you’re brewing coffee for a larger group of people. If you need a coffee machine for your workplace, then both of these machines would suffice. Both of the water tanks are easily removable so you can refill at your luxury.
The K425 Keurig and the K475 both are compatible with Keurig 2.0 K Cup, K-Vue and K-Carafe pods, K-Mug and Keurig 2.0 reusable My K-Cup. In total both machines can be used for eleven different brew sizes. Both machines have a removable drip tray, so it’s easy to clean any residue that overspills when you’re brewing your coffee.
Both machines have a very similar look, Keurig has given both a sleek easy on the eye design. Each model comes in a variety of colors, including an all-white machine, which would suit a modern, fresh looking kitchen.
The Display Screen
Both machines have an easy to follow touch screen allowing you to choose the exact settings you want. Both machines are programmable, so they automatically switch on or off at a specific time if you decide to use this feature. If you’re in a rush in the morning, you can make sure that your machine is good to go from the moment you wake up.
You can choose how strong you want your coffee on both machines. The strength control feature works by adjusting the time that it takes to make a cup of coffee. A regular strength cup will take around one minute to brew, if you like your coffee a little stronger then be prepared to wait slightly longer. The strength of the coffee is determined by the idea that the quicker the coffee is brewed, then the weaker the coffee will be.
If you prefer a stronger cup of coffee, then the machine allows small amounts of water to be released at intervals which will give you a stronger cup of coffee. With a weaker cup of coffee, the water is released in a stream that passes through the coffee. A stronger cup will take longer to brew, but if you’re a fan of stronger coffee, then it’s well worth the wait.
But it’s easy to control on both machines so if you like your coffee one way, but a member of your family or a friend likes their coffee another way then both the K425 and the K475 have all your preferences covered.
The K475 is slightly heavier than the K425, but both machines will still fit well into most kitchens, both machines are surprisingly compact considering that both have large water tanks attached to them. Both machines also have an energy saver mode available so that you can reduce those electricity bills!
Difference Between Keurig K425 Vs. K475
Being frank both the Keurig 425 and the 475 machines are very similar. They are both excellent quality machines which will fit most people’s needs well. Being able to control the strength of the coffee you want and having the capability to program your custom settings will leave most coffee fans satisfied.
The Water Filter
Having a water filter at home for your drinking water but also for the water you brew your coffee with can improve the taste and flavor of both your drinking water and your coffee. Removing any funky flavors or irritating chemicals can undoubtedly enhance your enjoyment of water and coffee.
The main difference between the Keurig K425 and the K475 is the inclusion of a water filter as standard, with the k475 machine. Meaning you don’t have to buy one separately. The K475 is the more expensive machine out of the two, but it can be argued, that the higher price can be justified due to the inclusion of a water filter. If you decide to go with the K425, you can still pick up a water filter separately at a reasonable price.
The K475 comes with a 6-Count K-Cup Pod Variety Pack, so you can enjoy a broad selection of different coffee before settling on your favorite. The K475 comes with one water filter handle and two water filters.
This is the main advantage of this machine over the K425; it’s generally easier to make one purchase instead of having to make two. The water filter included with the K475 is made by Keurig as well. This provides peace of mind because you know the filter is going to be compatible, rather than running the risk of buying a different water filter and it potentially not working as well.
Shortcomings of the Keurig K425 and K475
For everyday general use, the K425 and the K475 don’t have many shortcomings. Both machines work well for anyone who is looking for an easy to use, simple machine, that will give them high-quality coffee in a reasonable amount of time.
Both machines can require regular descaling. That makes it even more valuable investment in a high-quality water filter should you choose to purchase the K425.
As long as you keep either machine in good condition and check that it’s performing as it should be regularly, then you shouldn’t have any significant problems with either machine.
The Final Verdict
Our Winner: Keurig K475
The Keurig K425 and K475 are very similar machines. The only main difference is that the K475 has a water filter that comes with the machine, that is a big plus at making sure you’re coffee is of the highest quality.
The K425 is the slightly older and cheaper machine but doesn’t come with a water filter fitted. So it’s worth considering that although the Keurig K475 Plus machine is somewhat more expensive, it does come with a water filter.
If you want your machine to have a filter, then the K475 would be the machine to go for, and this would be my recommendation. Making just one purchase instead of two is the simpler of the two options and will leave you in a position where you are ready to start enjoying great tasting coffee from the comfort of your own home.
Whichever machine you decide to go for, it’s essential to know that both machines produce high-quality coffee in a reasonable time frame. If your budget is a little lower, then consider the K425, but if you want a machine that already comes with a filter and is ready to go, then go for the K475.
