Keurig K475

CoffeeGearSpy.com Rating: (4.5/5)

The Keurig K475 is the newer model of the two machines. The K475 comes with a 70 oz water tank attached, which will give you eight or more cups of coffee every time you fill the bank. So, the machine is perfect if you have more than one coffee drinker in your home. The K475 is slightly heavier than the K450 weighing 13 pounds, and the dimensions are 10.43 x 13.63 x 13.45 in.

The Water Tank also features a maximum fill line; I found this a handy feature as you know exactly how far you can fill the tank without any problems occurring. The machine will also let you know when you need to put more water into the tank.

Like the K450 you can also brew Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate. The Keurig K475 Coffee Maker is available in three different colors: red, black and pearl.

The K475 boasts more brew sizes than the K450, ranging from 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 oz K-Cup Pod Brew Sizes. You can also brew a Carafe the size of 22, 26 or 30 oz. The Carafe is sold separately, however. You can also use the Keurig 2.0 Reusable Coffee filter if you wish to use that instead of the pods.

Keurig has been criticized in the past, due to the environmental impact of the pods of coffee, so if this is something of a concern to you, then a Reusable Coffee Filter may well be a worthwhile purchase.

Keurig has included 6 K-Cup pods with the machine, a water filter handle plus two water filters to help rid your water of any nasty chemicals and leave your beverages tasting as good as they can. The K475 has a large color touch screen which allows you to set the time on your machine.

Through the touch screen as well, you can also program your machine to turn off or on at certain times. As I mentioned when talking about the K450, the auto on/off feature, which is accessible on many Keurig machines, this feature aids the energy efficiency of the machine. The K475 also has a Hot Water On Demand feature.

The K475 also includes a strength control feature, which allows you to brew a bolder cup using any K-Cup pod brew size. The K475 also has five temperature settings so you can be sure that you’ll enjoy your coffee at your preferred temperature. The K475 also has a removable drip tray, so it’s easy to clean any overspill that may occur.

Keurig K450

CoffeeGearSpy.com Rating: (4/5)

The Keurig K450 is the older model of the two machines and is currently not available for sale at this time. The Keurig K450 comes with a 70 oz water tank; this will give you up to eight or more cups of coffee from a single tank full. A 70 oz water tank is great as you won’t have to refill the water tank after every cup of coffee continually and is particularly useful if you have more than one coffee drinker in your home.

The K450 is fairly lightweight, weighing in at 8.5 lbs, while the dimensions of the machine are: 10.43 x 13.63 x 13.45 in. The machine allows you to brew coffee, tea, and hot chocolate at the touch of a button.

Keurig K450 vs. K475: Key Features

The first significant similarity between the Keurig K450 and the Keurig K475 is the size of the water tank. Both machines come equipped with 70 oz water tanks, giving you more than 8 cups of coffee per tank.

Both machines come with a water filter, so if you’re not using filtered water already, you can do by installing the water filter into either machine. This gives you cleaner water, removing any chemicals from the tap water you may have used before, which in turn will improve the taste of your beverage.

Display Screen

Both machines have a 2.4-inch display screen which is easy to follow and the display screen on both machines will allow you to choose the strength of your coffee and also how hot you want your beverage to be. On both machines, you can program a digital clock so you can track how long your coffee takes to brew.

You can also set the time on your machine, and both the K450 Keurig and the Keurig K475 Plus also have auto ‘on/off’ features, so Keurig has made sure that both machines are energy efficient and the auto ‘on/off’ feature mitigates the risk of you forgetting to turn off your machine after each time you make a cup of coffee.

Removable Drip Tray

Both machines have the removable drip tray present. Some other coffee machines don’t have a removable drip tray present, on the surface this doesn’t seem like a significant deal, but when you’re using a coffee machine day in, and day out, you’ll realize how useful this feature is.

The primary purpose of the removable drip tray is to catch any overspill that you may create when making your beverage when you’re making a few cups a day you’ll soon notice how handy it is that Keurig has included a removable drip tray on both machines.

Keurig has also included a sample box with each machine, so you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of flavors to see what you like the best.

What Are The Differences?

On the whole, there are no significant differences between the Keurig 2.0 K450 and the Keurig 475. Both are solid machines which are both suitable for the majority of consumers, particularly if you have more than one coffee drinker in your house or family.

One of the most significant differences between the two models is that the K475 is the newer model of the two, which Keurig introduced to replace the K450. So, if you choose to go for the K475, it’s important to remember that you are getting a newer model.

Brew Sizes

Another difference between the two machines is the number of brew sizes that each have available. The K450 ranges from 4, 6, 8 and 10 oz cups while the K475 ranges from 4 to 12 oz cups.

Neither machine comes with the Keurig Carafe, but both devices can accommodate a carafe, which can be purchased separately from both machines. Another difference is the range of colors that both laborers come in. The Keurig K450 is available in black, while the K475 is available in red, black and pearl. So, if you don’t want your machine in black, then the K475 may be the best machine for you.

The Final Word

Our Winner: Keurig K475 (4.5/5)

With no major difference between the two machines, both will produce good results. The Keurig K475 is the new machine, and the one that is currently available for purchase. The K475 also has a greater cup range available than the K450.

The K475 is also available in more colors than the Keurig K450, which means the K475 will fit various styles. There is no word at the moment when the K450 will be available again for purchase, so my recommendation would be to go with the newer machine that is the K475.
